Dragon's Maze Alteration

Dragon's Maze Alteration

Introduction

So, while looking through the cards and physically replacing those that got the axe during the Dragon's Maze update I came to the conclusion that I was making an erroneous substitution.  Basically, I was adding in Voice of Resurgance and taking out Loxodon Smiter, when in fact I should have been removing Sigarda, Host of Herons all along.  Let me explain my reasoning.  First off, Loxodon Smiter is exactly the type of card that a dedicated Selesnya deck wants.  It puts pressure on the opponent while simultaneously being good against blue (can't be countered), black (discard ability) and red (4 toughness) decks in one fell swoop.  Now while Sigarda holds her own and serves as a pretty fine win condition on her own she has one huge detraction.  Hexproof.  I hate hexproof.  And I mean....really hate it.  It's just not a fun mechanic to play against and every time anyone casts a hexproof dude it is completely irritating for everyone involved.  That, combined with the fact that she is a little more expensive and hard to cast makes me feel better about this swap.

Conclusion

The cube is always changing through play experiences and rethinking of past decisions.  For now however, I will see you for Magic 2014.

Enjoy!
